With the justice system overloaded and the number of disputes on the rise, our society is aspiring more than ever to peace. This is the challenge of Alternative Dispute Resolution: mediation, conciliation or arbitration.

Changes in legislation since 2019 have transformed the landscape of dispute resolution and accelerated the development of ADR:

• In August 2019, 46 countries signed the Singapore Convention for the Development of Mediation in Cross-Border Commercial Disputes.
• On December 11, 2019, Decree 2019-1333 in France establishes that “for disputes under €5,000  , an amicable process is required prior to civil proceedings”.

While amicable methods are developing rapidly, the profession is still struggling to structure itself and gain recognition.

We conducted a survey of 60 mediators and arbitrators in Europe in 2018, which highlighted these points:

• A poorly structured market
• A lack of awareness of mediation or confusion between arbitration and mediation
• A lack of clarity about the role of mediation.

Alternate Resolutions was born of a vision shared by its two founders - both mediators: the more disputes are resolved amicably, the more peaceful society will be. Our project is therefore to build the first online service platform to democratize out-of-court dispute resolution and professionalize practices with dedicated tools and services.

With the pandemic, uses have evolved and we have adapted to online videoconferencing systems on Skype™, WhatsApp™, Zoom™, Webex™, Teams™.

We wanted to offer a complete package that makes secure dispute resolution possible by going further than a simple secure videoconferencing platform.
